Astarana – is a Sanskrit Word used synonymously for any cloth. It can be a quilt, bedcover, bedspread, bedlinen or simply any clothing used for décor. At Astarana we represent a brand which show cases contemporary, quirky, modern and elegant designs amalgamating with traditional Indian textile and weaving techniques carried out by bravura Indian Artisans.
Our Philosophy
Hand Block Printing, an age-old textile technique, resonates with the renowned life philosophy of Wabi Sabi – embodying the beauty found within imperfection.
To err is to human, while Indian artisans exhibit exceptional skill, the beauty of hand block printing lies in its embrace of imperfections, adding a unique charm to each piece
Our Inspiration
We are inspired by the Indian Philosophy of aesthetics called Rasa. It connoted a concept in Indian arts about the aesthetic flavor of any visual or artistic work that evokes an emotion or feeling in the viewer but cannot be described. We aim to bring you ethically sourced designs which emotes a similar emotion .
Our Ethos
We work towards ensuring fair trade and promote local Indian Textile industry and crafts. This is our humble effort to support our artisans and give them a platform to showcase their techniques on the global map. The entire range is exclusively sourced from and Made In India.
Our special focus is to work with manufacturers who are focused to empower women artisans and weavers and make them independent.
